Madison has become one of the best music hubs around the Midwest and musicians with different styles
and music genres have joined the city to contribute to the evolution of Madison’s culture. The Madison Area
Music Association (MAMA) annually celebrates the achievements of a great variety of local musicians at the
MAMA Awards show, which is like a Madison version of the Grammys! In 2019, the MAMA Awards show will
keep showcasing some of the best music, artists and bands by recognizing their hard work on June 9th at
the Overture Center for the Arts. Artists need to register to be a MAMA member by January 25th to be
considered for awards in over 60 different categories and 14 different genres, including Song, Album, and
Performer of the Year. To be eligible for a MAMA Award, musicians must have some members of their
music group living in Dane County or be based in Dane County. The first round of voting will run from
February 1st until March 4th. The Finalist Announcement Party will be on March 31st and the winners will
be revealed at the show on June 9th at the Overture Center for the Arts.
The MAMA is a VOLUNTEER RUN non-profit organization that supports youth music in the Greater Madison Area, and works to strengthen and
engage the music community as a whole. People from different backgrounds who might have not participated before are highly encouraged to apply.
The MAMA organization is actively working on providing a welcoming space for both musicians and fans. If you make awesome music in any shape
or form, you can register by January 25th and be recognized for your efforts. It is very easy! Registration requires a $5 donation that will be spent to
support music education programs in the Madison area and select one of the multiple music categories. Musicians under the age of 19 can register
for free under Youth Awards.
