MADISON, Wis. – Brenda González, diversity
manager for Agrace Hospice & Palliative
Care, has been selected to serve on the
Diversity Advisory Council of the National
Hospice and Palliative Care Organization
Since 2016, González has led Agrace’s
efforts to improve access to hospice and
palliative care among multicultural and
underserved patients. She also helps
ensure that Agrace’s staff and volunteer
workforce reflects the diversity of the
communities it serves. She coordinates
medical interpreter services for Agrace
patients and their families who need
language assistance, guides Agrace’s
Advancing Equity & Inclusion Committee
and leads opportunities for local students of
color to learn about career opportunities
Prior to joining Agrace, González worked for 20 years helping people in the greater
Madison area navigate the complexities of our health care system, including creating
access to qualified medical interpreters.
As a member of the Diversity Advisory Council, González will offer guidance and
technical expertise to NHPCO and its members nationwide about serving diverse
populations. This will include giving advice on developing tools, resources and
content for educational materials.
González said, “NHPCO’s diversity initiatives help increase access to hospice and palliative care within multicultural and diverse communities. I
hope to learn from them, and to share with others the great work Agrace has done to advance end-of-life care.”
“Brenda González will represent our organization well on the NHPCO Diversity Advisory Council,” said Marcia Whittington, Agrace’s chief
development officer. “She has diligently worked over the last few years to grow our diverse patient census, along with offering many multicultural
people the opportunity to work for Agrace. Her leadership on this council will benefit Agrace by allowing us to continue to learn best practices and
advance in our diversity efforts.
